Vmax 700 oil pump coupler question

I have a 99 vmax 700 with a bad oil pump and have gone to
premixing. I want to disable the pump. I have seen references to a
coupler that I need to remove so I can reinstall the pump
without having it spin. Where is the coupler and how do
I remove it?

not sure if the redheads have the oil lines that go to the bottom of the crankcase like the srx/vipers but if they do you need to feed those still somehow

99.9% sure they do. If hes pulling pump anyways might as well just put a good one back on and do away with the pre-mixing. Just my .02

What do the oil lines going to the bottom of the engine do?

feed one of the sets of bearings and the cavity where the drive gears are for the oil/water pumps

So Removal or disabling the pump is a big no no?

guys have done it and gravity feed those lines but it's usually for a race only sled

Ok- any idea where is the best place to get a replacement pump?

new try port yamaha or used here in the classifieds

I tell you for fact that the redhead has oil lines that go to the case. Also Port Yamaha is the place to get new parts. Go with OEM!!
