Hi all I have a 97 600 twin at close to 5000 miles.
Now we are rebuilding motor I ran a dial indicator on the crank's seal surfaces to check for straight the PTO side is < .001" but the flywheel side is .0027" inches. Can any of you tell me the tolerance on this?
Second question is we found bearing chatter, it is bad enough to have left ridges on the bearings and grooves in the case. I would guess this means replace case but?
If these are shot I would like to also know if the chassis were different between the 97/98 twin and triples or if motor, wiring and exhaust can transfer. I do know of a bent mountain max with a triple in it, could become a donor.
thanks
Brian

Not sure about your questions on your internals on twin. That mtn max red head 700 should fit in there just fine. Gearing in the chain case is probably different and if your 600 doesnt have the rear cooler you may want to get the one off the mtn max as well, may have to modify it or pick up one off a factory equipt tripple sx-sxr 6 or 700 should fit as is.
