Vehicle mounted GPS units

I'm looking at getting a gps to put in my truck and I have just started looking at them,there's a lot of info and a lot of different models out there.I don't need anything too fancy just functional,something in the 4" screen range for eas of viewing at a glance.I'm putting a Pioneer stereo in the truck with a BT mic so I don't need BT capability in a GPS.Of all the different ones you guys have used what are your personal experiences good and bad with what you have?
What would you buy if you were going to buy another/different one?

To be honest I'm not sure why I am even looking at buying one it's not like I travel to places I don't know much I guess I'm just a gadget guy and figure I'd like to see if I would use one.

I have used TOM TOM as well as Garmin NUVI. Personally I prefer the garmin. They are actually quite useful. I used to be the cable guy and now I work for USIC doing locates for att,verizon,consumers,centurytel and charter. Using the points of interest you can find restaurants,shopping and usually when a bussiness is listed they have address and phone number.

I use the garmin nuvi 500. Screen is 3.5 and very easy to see and follow. LOVE IT!!!! Plus it doubles as a snowmobile trail GPS in the winter. I use the VVMaping program. Works great and so far spot on.

I was reading a couple of reviews on Consumer reports on one particular unit they actually give high marks to but the people that submitted reviews made comments like setup was difficult and time consuming,map updates were difficult etc.These are some of the things I'm hoping to avoid.

Keep them recomendations coming guys.
