'Nuff said.

That was the call I was going to make next week. Just was looking for some insight in how guys are making them a 1000+cc

I love the blue sleds too. I must say you have chosen the wrong sled to modify. Yamaha will be very expensive. Ski Doo is the weapon of choice for many many reasons. Here is a suggestion. I would attend a NHRA pro stock race on either division one or division two. Either one will have plenty of qualified sled owners/ builders in attendance. Racers are a friendly group and they love to talk. Stop by and start a discussion. Just make sure their not wrenching or to busy to talk.

gotta agree with Mac. As I've learned from Mrviper while having my 780 race engine built, the yamaha 700 cases are just too small for serious power on the big bores. (thats comparitively speaking when you take into account the doo 809 engines) dont get me wrong they will make respectable power but the competition has an advantage from the get go with case volume. I'm no expert, just paraphrasing what I was explained. Now that being said I'm still looking forwar to taking my knife to a gunfight and trying to pick off a few shooters.

Not enough

Valin had a thread about building a monster machine. looks like he did great work, and spent a ton of money. In the end it was the case that limited his build. No matter what was done, the case never had the volume to keep up witht the 1000-1100cc I believe he was working on putting on it. Yamahas have some great qualities, but if this is all you are going to do (1000+drag) I would go elsewhere. My 2cents

on the flip side if you're going to be bracket racing it wont matter. heads up though....
as far as breaking into the 8s (I assume we're talking 1/4 mile?), someone with experience will have to comment on that.

We are just bracket racing. But we are thinking about trying to run the pbss series here. Which you have to be faster than 9.5 to run the series but the 16 fastest go on. We would like to stay with a srx we are already running 2 700 on the ashpalt. didn't really want to a 4 stroke turbo but i rather to that than switch brands.

I hear ya there. Valins engine was a SX based engine (1136cc I believe, bored and stroked) in the 270hp range in a srx chassis. not sure what kind of HP it takes to get below a 9.5 but at least you know that type of HP is possible. on a side note though the engine ultimately split in two so.......

what are you running with your 2 700s now?

Valin bought thst motor from smr on snowest who usr to run it on tar.On spray it ran 8.20s

The stock 700 is running 10.8's at 117mph and the ported one on stock pipes is running 10.4's at 122mph.

the stock sled and a modified stock suspension to run a narrow track and the ported one has a 121 wahl. last year the ported on still had a 15" track on it and ran close to the same time. i am finding that the stock suspension 60' harder than the wahl. But the wahl does hook alot better.

What are you getting for 60' times? Also, I've been curious to know how easily other sleds roll. What I mean is, our sled is very difficult to move by pushing. I see most all other racers stage their sleds by using there feet/legs and still sitting on the sled. Even the guy with his AC Z1 Turbo @ over 1000lbs w/rider stages with his legs. Our sled is "only" 715 lbs w/rider. I've wondered if the difference was the aftermarket rear susp (everyone else @ the track we run has) vs stock susp (which we have). I have yet to have tracion issues. I do know that the track preperation at New England Dragway is excellent, even on any given race day, but also I kow my launch clutching is not super aggressive (engagement is under 5000).

with the wahl bros suspension it rolls alot easier. last years 60' 1.38 to 1.42. With the wahl in it 1.45 to 1.48. that is with the same engagement rpm as last year with the wide track. i haven't start bring up the engagement to seem if it will hook.

ur 4 stroke yamis will lay down some serious power and reliability and u wont be disapointed and they have a big range of clutching in other words u dont have to be a clutch king to make them go for example if ur only pulling 8200 and they are rated 8900 they still pick off the competitors.i run a stock nytro with the improvers , snow pro 600 sleds and stock 700 have beat a few f7 cats and had my way with a stock 700 srx and hang on to the apex all the way down the track.

yeah i have nothing against going four stroke. It will have to be a turbo four stroke or a larger cc four stroke to run in pbss. where i have see some 800cc strokes come out and run the class. my father was just think it would be nice to have all there sleds the same.
