whats a good starting point for the number of studs,and how about runners? heard some don't use them at all
 
btw-this is for a stock,or super stock machine.cat rubber track conversion,.750 lug height,stock pipes,38mm miks,any other tips?
 
COMET CLUTCH IS A BIG TIP. WAY BETTER THAN STOCK. .750 LUG ON A GPX COULD BE CLOSE FOR TUNNEL CLEARANCE. CHECK THAT. STOCK PIPES, .38mm ETC ALL GOOD. 3:16 (yammie tony)
 
i have a comet 102 c with thunder shift weight set up,just a little more on engagement and i should be good there.right now the ice oval set up has woody's picks.920 and it's close to the tunnel but right at .375 over the lug,i may go to a 7 tooth driver and use 1" stud boy catapaults.i think most drag events allow for .750 over the lug height but i'm not to worried about making that,it's just a for fun small event right in hometown,first snowmobile event ever held here.
 
i run a stock 75 gpx was just out testing yesterday ...........many keys to making them fly and mine is one of the fastest stockers in the midwest although i run the srx primary clutches .........it is what i now and what i have .............just can't get a comet to work as good also as per the rules we are only allowed to run as big as 36mm mikuni's which i just swaped in over the 38's i had on it .............testing shows that i gained a little over a tenth in 60ft with the 36's over the 38's and gained a little on the big end enough to have to change the clutching a little run as little studs as you can i started out with 46 chisels and went up from there last 2 years i have only ran 69 studs in the sled but now i am up to 84 but could remove some if needed .................get yourself a good tach and test test test ...sled should run 8400 rpm for 75 ...........more like 8200 for 74
 
well according to the rules,i'm getting put in the mod class now because of the comet,it's just for fun,so i don't care.ordering some guide wheels from hi perf engineering and some jetting,not to sure where to start at for the pilot jet though? i have them down to 25 here at the shop.also going to run some gyt pipes on it,whats a good engagement? thinking 6,000 rpm?
