My brother is looking into getting into asphalt racing. My dad and i already run 2 SRX's just wondering what times a stock vmax4 would do.

I STILL GRASS RACE A 1995 800. THEY FLY IF SET-UP RIGHT. NO REASON FOR THIS SLED NOT TO BE IN THE 10,s. VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE SUSPENSION SETUP GOOD. GOOD FRIEND OF MINE JUST STARTED RUNNING A 96 800 ON TAR. WHAT YOUR SRX,s RUN ? 3:16 (yammie tony)
I would think it should be in the low 10's like 3:16 mention with clutch work and suspension work.
can't wait to get my Vmax-4 800

if you are wanting a 4 banger..go something newer..get a RX1 and it can fly if you want it to.needaSRX said:I would think it should be in the low 10's like 3:16 mention with clutch work and suspension work.

The stock srx with a 170lbs rider will run 10.8's in the heat and the ported one runs 10.3's

VMAX4 SHOULD BE IN BETWEEN IF YA HAVE A GOOD SET-UP. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I was thinking around mid 10's for a vmax4 but wasn,t sure because of the weight of the sled. What seems to be the best clutch weights to use in them?
I don't know much about V4 yet but I think the stock weights 8bu-00 and the 8bu-10 which are great for 500'-1/4 mile runs

Gonna Have To Test Both. There Two Very Good Weights. The 8bu-00 Are More Drag Race / E.t. Weight Were The 8bu-10 Are More For Top Speed. The Srx Is Know Lite Weight either, And Not That Farr Behind The Vmax 4. All The Triples From That Era Were Heavy, But They Can Really Run On Tar. 3:16 (yammie Tony)

Ya, weight isn't that far off between SRX 700 and Vmax-4. Dry, 25-35lbs (more or less) depending on year and model and I think the 4 may have the edge in ability to shave weight. If the class you run allows it you can drop 50+ lbs real quick with just front/rear suspension mods without getting fancy.
A Vmax-4 is chubby no doubt but not as fat as most make them out to be.

yeah we are just bracket racing so no real rules about weight.

There is a 750 vmax4 at the track ever once in a while and it only runs 11.5 I think with quads on it.

I beat quad piped 95 800's with a twin piped 92 750 with stock engine.
Tony gave me some direction on setup for the 92. If the guys with the 800's had a clue it should not have been a contest. Many variable on a 4. More so on the 750 than the 800. Guys that know their stuff make em fly. (Tony)

THERE IS SO MUCH HP HERE WITH THIS ENGINE, IT IS SO CRITICAL TO HAVE CLUTCHING JUST ABOUT PERFECT ON THESE SLEDS. I HAVE BEAT,IN MANY SRX,s WITH MY VMAX 4. AND I RUN ONE. LIKE PHIL POSTED, ALL IN SET-UP. can,t say it enough. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I don't know what set up he has. I think the primary was a cat clutch. Clutching and suspension set up mean a lot.
