have a 2001 sx700 that i want to give more travel on up front. what shocks do i need?

Shocks off pro action venture should do the trick, will need the sway bar as well. Might be able to use just the venture links or xtend yours. My long travled srx has the pioneer kit under it.

2001 should be an sxr not an sx and it will already have long travel. If you want more travel then your will need to get custom. The easiest way would be to use sx upper shock brackets with some 16" shocks.
