In going through my "new" '98 SRX, I made the mistake of "cleaning" the air filter element. Now I only used soap and water, but it was obvious that age had taken its toll on the filter, and I was only making it worse.
Now I've seen the detrimental effects of using aftermarket filters on a sled (e.g. - K&N cone-type individual filters (as an example only - I love K&N!
) will pull warm air from under the hood vs. cold air from outside the cowl) & so far I can't find where major filter manufacturers make filters for older sleds like mine.
So here is my question: What replacement elements are you using? Have you ever replaced yours? If I am wrong about major mfgs. not making filters for these old sleds, can you provide a source?
I found some element material that you have to cut-to-fit from Dennis Kirk, because now I NEED to put something in there (It wasn't totally disintegrated, but compromised), but want to see what others are using.
