We had the same 79 340. It was the whole family's favorite. That is the only sled I have ever let go of. The clutch came apart and shook the crank loose..
1981 Yamaha Excel III - 1100 miles.........before and after clean up.
The 2nd is a 86 SRV 540 / 1700 miles bought from the same guy - my cousin took that one.......before and after also.
Thanks for the kind words.
Glad to hear from people who appreciate fine machinery..
The spacers are round alum stock that I drilled thru and milled to length.
The "shackles" if you will are what I came up with to relocate the shock at the ski end. I bolted them in place to get the correct location before welding.
The ski wideners are just standard ones I bought online.
These are the only pics I have on hand. I won't be up to see the sleds again for at least another month unless we get a freak weekend snow storm before the season ends.
If you copy the pictures address and open them in a new tab, you'd be able to zoom in fairly well and see the details.
Awesome! THANK YOU! I just finished a "refresh" on our families 1980 ET300 but the word "finished" shouldn't be used!!!! I installed ski skins for the ski's as there were a few suspect areas of rust and I am very intrigued about the widened stance! I still love rippin' around on this sled at the cottage, so light and so much fun.
I hear ya. I road each sled around our lake one last time before putting them all away.
That 300 zips right along and brought a smile to my face as I was running it in circles on the ice.
With studs it has no trouble lifting the skis.
