ok so i put 54g weights in they are not notched with stock spring. the clutch for some reason does not engage till 8k rpm. what could be going on. isnt heavy weights supose to make lower engagement? some may ask why i put 54g weights with stock spring in. i have another spring on the shelf that is alot stiffer. that is going in i just wanted to see how the weights work.

wheres the notch? at the point where they would normally engage? profile of the weights plays a major factor on engagement as does the spring. assuming you havent created some sort of binding in the clutch.

a little more info may help resolve your problem.

the weight is not notched. the heel of the weight has a slight hump in it but no notch. the spring is stock tenion. all the weights are shimmed properly before i put the spring and cover on i moved the spider back and forth and moved the weights around to make sure they dont snag on anything.

what weights did you use? weights with a narrower tip usually increase the rpms at engagement. back to the profile, is the hump on the top or bottom of the heel?
the hump is right after the idle rest. the hump is 1.8mm. it is stock zrt 600 weights.

in your other thread you werent getting the clutch to fully open at first. what did you do to fix that?
i forgot a shim on one of the weights and it snagged on the spider.

not sure about this but could have something to do with the relationship from the mounting hole of the weight and the roller. why do you want to run the AC weights?
i was just experimenting with more weight and i have a hole crap ton of zrt weights.from what i heard from mpi, ac and polaris weights work.

I thought pin diameters of those weights were different than yamaha. sounds like you need to take it back apart, make sure everything is lined up & works smoothly, then try again.

the pin slid right in and was pretty darn close to being the same maybe a hair looser if at all by the thousandths. from what i coul tell with the belt off and spring out everything apears normal.

SO MANY PROVE,IN YAMAHA SET-UPS HERE, WHY BOTHER WITH CAT STUFF. 3:16 (yammie tony)
the only reason i used cat stuff is because i come from a family who believes suzuki/ac or die. lol so i have ac parts up the ***.

If I had a Ford I'd use Chevy parts on it
couldnt resist, had to get my Ford dig in

Sorry I gotta do it to
BUILT FORD TOUGH WITH CHEVY STUFF

But on another thought use yamaha pri set up and a ac yellow sec spring on like a 30 wrap works well. I have done it. Just because i did not have a green yamaha sec spring

i love how half of the brand name forums are a bunch of 40 year old pricks that dog on the younger guys with ideas. just because you use a proven kit means you are hot shit and get to make fun? to me it sounds like you have your head stuck too far up your arrogant *** to give two shits about kids learning from trial and error. but thanks man for being a **** in my thread. ;)!

Y waste your time working with what is harder to work with in first place and not use what is proven may times. And cat weights dont have to tuneablity of the yamaha weights. Run heel clickers or hevy hitters. Yamaha did there home work on there clutch set ups they did not just put a bunch of stuff out there in the right mixture they can be wining combos
