hey sorry to start another thread but i am trying to figure out my clutching on my 99 srx 600, the guy before me had Hauck clutch it, primary is blue white, helix is a Hauck D, secondary spring is black not sure what wrap is set at but its in the marked 9 hole on the helix, everything else is stock to my knowledge, 204 studs, .91" track, revs are at about 8100-8200 WOT, sled seems fast off the line but only slowly climbs from 65+ like my buddies zr600 will pass it #$%&* , tops out at around 90-105 on the speedo depending on conditions

Not really sure on the clutch kit. Plenty of gurus on here that can help you out. But a few things to check out would be...How are the clutches, are they clean? temps on the clutches after a good run? Are they hot? Check on your primary sheave, how high is the belt riding up on the primary? Also, how are your powervalves? Are they clean? adjusted properly? No pull throughs on the cables?

Your over weighted to only pull 8200 if the motor is running right

someone on here told me 8200-8300 is all you want to run on the 600s, also someone told me my helix angle might be too steep? any help appreciated

PEAK RPM ON THAT SLED IS 8350. YOUR CLOSE. HAUCK D IS A 51-43. ALL THE YAMAHA SPRINGS ARE BLACK, BUT THEIR SHOULD BE ANOTHER COLOR ON THERE. YOU DID NOT SAY WHAT WEIGHTS YOU HAVE. 204 STUDS IS ALITTLE OVERKILL ON A 600 SRX. 168 BE MORE LIKE IT FOR ME. 3:16 (yammie tony)

alright ill take a closer look at weights, anyone know anything about the blue white primary spring? or if thats a good helix? thanks

Check for little blobs of paint on the secondary spring should be three, or like mine one because the other two marks wore off. I agree with 3:16 it may be the weight or check your belt to make sure its in spec, Clean everything well??
Also did you ever check how tight your track is?? Or to see if the previous owner changed the gearing or dropped a tooth on the drive cogs?

Something is definitely up if a zr 6 is passing you at 65

watched both your vids pretty closely, sounds a little flat to me in both and around 8000rpms as best I could see in both. I think you have some room for clutching and check your jetting via plugs/piston wash

THAT SLED DONT SOUND RIGHT. SOUNDS LIKE RPM IS TO LOW, POWER VALVES OFF OR PIG RICH. I BE CHECKING AFEW THINGS HERE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

DEFERENT WEIGHTS OR A HELIX WITH A LOWER NUMBER FINISH ANGLE WILL INCREASE RPM. YOU CAN TRY ADDING SOME SECONDARY TWIST. MIGHT BRING IT UP SOME. 3:16 (yammie tony)

alright well finally took it all apart and weights are 8df-00 with 4.5 gram rivet, primary spring is blue white, secondary spring is green, helix is hauck D which is 51/43, secondary wrap was set at 9 on the helix and 1 on the sheave so thats 100 degrees?

well... with a 100 degree wrap in the secondary, if you lower that and correct the rpms, youll pull away from your buds by a football field. That 100 degree wrap eats up topend ALOT, for snow you want to be down at 60-70.

stock primary spring was pink-green-pink which is 40/139kg, the spring you have now is blue white blue, which is 45/111, which would lower your peak rpm down. So thats why they twisted the back sec up to 100 degrees to get higher rpm, but when you do this your shootin yourself in the foot. You dont adjust rpm via the secondary, you adjust the rpm with the primary.

thanks mr viper, i dropped secondary wrap to 60 and added 2 engagement shims and holy man does this thing rip, pulls like crazy up to 95, lined up against two '99 srx 700s both stock and pulled about 6 lengths on them all the way up to 110 mph :bump:

do another video with the ditch pickle, you should now completely dissappear from the video frame....lol
