correct piston ring installation

I am refreshing my 2002 M.M. I am looking at the new Yamaha ring sets for
marking for top side of ring. I see a very small T mark in all the rings close to the end gap on the ring. Would I assume that the T mark would be top side ( up).

Yes that would be correct. As you notice the rings also have a taper on them on the ends where the end gap is. Make sure you like the rings up with the pins in the pistons.
