Hey guys, I was told that my skid has Viper shocks. I am just curious... Can anyone tell me exactly what I have here? What parts are from the Viper? Is the whole skid from a the Viper or is there certain parts that are or what? I am just wondering what I have I guess. Check out the pics and let me know! I just took the skid apart and painted and had the w arm all beefed up with angle iron! The old w arm was shot! Thanks alot, Mike

I think the center shock(front of skid) is on upside down all of mine are installed threads up on the center shock. Ohter then that and the adjuster (I think Bener) on the trafer rods it looks just like my 2 Vipers.

X2 mines installed the same way

The shock in the middle is the viper size. That's what I was told by a measurement. I don't have the measurement on me now. I just wondered if anything else was different. Is it going to matter that the shock is mounted upside down? Do I need to take the skid back out and change that or is it ok? It was like that when I got it so I just put it back together the same way. Thanks

Viper shocks are 18.5 rear and 13 " on the center one. And yes you want the ice and snow to fall away from the piston seal not into it!

If I am not mistaken viper skids had a alum rod not steel on the middle mount point.

No I sorry I meant rear mount point the rod in the tube not the steel of outside my bad

Most viper rails also had 2 different holes for the transfer rods also, depending on what length rods u had determined what hole u used. Short travel used one and vipers along with other long travel sleds used the other hole.
My 2000 srx only had one hole for the shorter rods. Not sure if 01 and 02 were the same or if they had rails like the vipers.

I think the 98 srx had the long travel transfer rods though?

My '01 SRX had both transfer holes on the rails (I transfered the rails to the Viper skid I bought).

As far as I know, the only major differences are transfer rods, limiter straps and shock/spring length.

I would say by the picture you have either 02 updated version or 03 and up viper shocks. The rails look like the stock 98/99 style rails and they have the srx steel strap that connects the last idlers to the rear arm pivot. Transfer rods look like maximum performance.
The rods are correct length for long travel skids.
