My '99 700 sx had a saggy primary spring and I changed it to what I was told was a stock spring.
My engagement is now 5100 ish rpm. What will that change if anything and will it be ok?
All stock otherwise.

just make sure the bushings in the clutch are good my wife ac the bushing where junk it would rev up and engage hard
If u put a tall cover spring in a short cover clutch you would get the 5k engagement
Being a 99 it may have the short cover

I checked my shop manual for specs and measured mine. It was way short.
Buddy had brand new one because years ago he put in a clutch kit.
This one measures a little taller than spec but now has high engagement.
Will it be ok or should I change it out?
Worried it may not work properly or something else might suffer/break?

that kind of engage ment is good for racing like snow drags but to trail ride 2 hard on clutch sheaves, u mshould use a yamah black spring for that which will bring it down to about 4300 which is about what u want on that . if ur clutch is not clean it could be hanging up allso or bushing on ur movable sheave is worn out and its binding.
