I keep hearing about the trans fluid trick? What exactly is this? I'm gonna try a search. A great idea would be to start a thread on which fuel companies have ethanol in their gas and who doesn't. I know it varies by state, but only one person from their state would have to do the research & post their findings. Save others the trouble of whats been found above?? and possibly some cash!!

That's what I'm kinda concerned about. If my carbs look like they did, what does my fuel pump look like?? Not really too keen on pulling it apart since you can't just buy replacement diaphragms. As far as the top hat filters.....Pull em' and clean em'. You can remove them to clean them but do not remove them permanently (not sure if that's what you meant).MM70001 said:I've got a 2001 MM700 and a 96 Skidoo F3 600 triple, drained my gas last spring and carbs and this fall found gelled fuel in my lines to fuel pump, I checked my carbs an removed some junk from bowls.Took the sled for a short low rpm ride arould the field, going to pull the bowls again to see if any gelled junk was in the fuel pump and delivery lines to the carbs. All of this despite using Startron.Do most people clean and replace the top hat filters or remove them?
I ended up having to replace my needles last season since the rubber tips had started to de-laminate. At that time, I also replaced the top hat filters and sealing o-rings.

In the long run
The funny thing is that goverments are subsidizing these crappy ethanol/additive based fuels nowadays . Under the "brand names" as "lowering the emissions", which is so far from the truth. These crappy fuels actually increase the local emission due to their hygroscopic properties in my opinion. Due to their "water loving" properties; the result is in an unclean combustion process.
That again lead to higher emission of soot/NOX and you name it, which isn't good for anyone. Also that ethanol burns leaner than regular fuel, which in turns only creates costly problems for enthusiastic sleders like we are.
Espescially in newer sleds and other vehicles, which have even more sensitive fuel systems.
I just want to have a good time riding, and not cearing or have to think about what kind of crappy fuel I'm picking up all the time.

Good link FJ! Thanks! This should be in the tech section or a sticky.
You said it.
