MM700 Air box mod worth it?

Putting Bender pipes on my 2001 MM 700, is the airbox mod worth it or will it cause finicky jetting ?Should I leave it stock ?Any idea of jetting specs with the airbox mod at 2000 ft at -15 c? versus stock box?

I had it done to mine last year and it was a pain to get it to run rite I'd either have a lean bog down low and tried to richen it up and I'd foul a plug ended up not staying with the mod and got rid of the headache. My elevation is 1050.

Been running it for years. Had to go to a smaller air jet to eliminate the lean bog when snapping the throttle open. Otherwise no problem here. Sled gets used here in the flats of MN and out in the mountains of WY and MT.

It will be WAAAAAAY to finicky. And yes, leave the box stock. You can block off the 4 warm air ports that are incorporated into the hood so only cold air is sucked into the slush box. Start w/ blocking off two, ride then read plugs and adjust from there. This procedure will obviously lean it out . I used 2 inch wide chafe tape on both sides of the cowl so the tape is stuck to each other.

Hasn't been my experience, but obviously your results may vary. On my sled we have taped the warm air vents into the intake shut so that it only gets air from the outside intake in front of the bars. Air box mod done, decreased that air jet in the mouth of the carb, and ride it. Only time the jetting gets changed is when going from 1200' at home to 8000+ out west. Runs the same everyday, all the time, since I've owned it (bought it in about 2001). It's seen a lot of changes/modifications through the years, but the airbox mod hasn't changed.
