Wiring Q - LED's

Going to throw an additional white LED bar up front for some extra seeing power and might also do the underglow thing for kicks.

My question is, if I tap into the existing headlight wire, say high beam, will the LED lights only turn on when I switch to high beam, basically turning the hi/low toggle into an on/off toggle for the LED's? I'd prefer to do this, but I can also tap into the handwarmer switch or create a whole new switch, which I'd prefer not to do. Has anyone had problems with overpowering their stator or CDI? Should be fine, LED's don't draw much juice? Thanks in advance.

I've never done it but I was thinking about it a few years ago, What I read was that if you have e-start just add a line off your battery with a switch. If you don't have e-start the easiest thing to do was to add a 12v gel cell mount it in the trunk or where the battery would normally go... You'll need to charge the battery up every so often, There might be a way to actually hard wire it, but I don't know that answer to that one.

I am pretty sure most LED's are intended to run on DC power. Now depending on your sled and options (e-start or not) it may be easy or hard to find a clean DC output, but I can tell you that if you have a tachometer then the power wire going to that will probably be a DC. However I am not sure how clean it will be, you may need to splice in an additional capacitor...Depends on the sled.
