Quick question.

Will I notice a difference between the stock jetting (145, 143.8, 143.8 ) and going with Turks recommended 142 mains?

I have NOT done the head gasket mod and don't have plans to in the future.

I HAVE done the reed stopper notch and 2" silencer mod, as well as Turks clutching mods and 51/43 helix.

It's that time of year where I need to clean the carbs, and I'm debating with throwing in the 142 main jets while I have the carbs apart.

Any gains, or waste of money?

Thanks in advance for any and all input!

Sounds like your on the right track should damn good. I did the 8dfs with the 51/43 and wow what a dif from stock

Turk recommended a touch leaner because sleds are set up fat from the factory. What elevation are you riding/ temperature? Reed notching allows for better air flow in the case and therefore may require a touch more fuel so you might be very close to what you want anyway.

Long story short, don't change anything until you check your plugs from the changes you have already made. If you are still unsure, maybe post some pics of the plugs and see what others recommend then.

Thanks for the input. Very sound advice. I run at sea level, probably anywhere from 10 to 30 degrees F.

I guess I'll clean the carbs, leave stock jetting alone, and check the plugs after my first ride this winter. Odds are, if the sled is running well, I probably won't bother with the jetting unless it sits too long and needs another cleaning. Thanks again!
