Hand grips

Is there an easy way to get the grips off without wrecking them? My dad bent his handle bars on Saturday and only needs to replace the bar, not the grips and everything else.

heat them up before and they usually slide right off...maybe...

hmmm. drill out the rivot first, and try twisting ,if that dont work get a syringe and fill with mineral spirts or some other glue cutter and inject the grip in differnt spots all around, let it work a min . and twist it off. works for golf club grips?
