Thinking of running HID in my new 98 vmax xtc. Just confirming the 98 xtc's also used H4 bulbs? From my reading im pretty sure they do just want to make sure before i order. chris

let us know what you do and how you do it. Was thinking bout doing it on my new dual light setup on my 97 but went plasma lights cause was worried bout the drawof hid upon ignition

I wouldn't run HID's in the single bulb housing, it has a smooth reflector and a fluted lense which would cause huge amounts of glare. It would be like having your highbeams on the whole time even though it is on lowbeam (not good if you ride on trails where there may be oncoming traffic). I would at least use the dual bulb housing which has much better optics however they will still produce a lot of unwanted glare.
The correct way to do it would be to retrofit an hid projector in the headlight housing. I will be doing this next year with my srx with these and will make a how to.

it is the next level of lighting. I use hid on my ford truck and sho car and they both have fluted lenses. They do not give any more glare than my van with clears. The fluting is there to correct (bend) the light into the correct patern given by an incorrect reflector. It is how they used to do it. the newer lights use clear with a better aimed reflector. in my summation, the fluting was removed in an effort to get more light from the same bulb as any extra bending or thickness, decreases transmittance. also, looks cool to have clear lenses. Guys are making them from scratch in their ovens for the sho so they can put projectors in them. you could go that route if you wanted to put a couple projectors in a single housing. simple to do other than time.

When did you pick up the XTC?? The last one I got was a 98 XTC seems like a real nice sled

Just last thursday. Just a little 600 twin i got a friend price on. Super clean with only 2000 miles on it. I just started to tear it down but will be my ditch banger, river sled. Going to viperize it with all my extra parts.

ive got a little project on the go and i know the other guy's set of triple pipes are made to fit a pogo.

try doing some searches. Maybe Tom remembers his name. it was a 900, no valves. He used sx 700 ignition, cant rember much else about it other than he had to do some pipe cutting to get them to fit.
