Does anyone know why the viper has different part numbers for the top and bottom oil seals on the chaincase? The bore and shaft measure the same so I do not see why they do not use the same one. I looked on the Yamaha web site and the SRX has the same chaincase and uses the same seal on both shafts.

I'm not sure either. Other then they are 2 different colors (one brown/ one black) I couldn't see any difference, maybe the rubber composition is different on the bottom one because it's more exposed to the elements? ?
hmm good question. i will check the seal numbers against each other, never noticed it before.hmmmmm
I believe its because one is in oil and the other is dry.
