My ditch banger project!

I ended up painting the rear tunnel pannel on my 98 XTC black to match the rest of the tunnel (Mine was natural too) I thnk it looks lots better, don't know why they came that way. It's lookin real nice Chris!

Wish i would have thought to paint it before i riveted it all together. No biggie i guess. Ill just have to tape it off cause im not really to happy with how it looks. I think it sticks out more with the viper rear bumper cover. We will see. You wouldnt happen to have a pic of yours painted would ya gil? Send it to my email. Thanks chris

Didnt get any work done today but i did get some early christmass presents. Got my viper reed cages and reeds. I will be running viper reeds in my xtc. The cage drops right in and is a hair wider. Also the stoppers sit farther down already making the reed stopper notch that much better. Also a rear axle wheel for my fourth wheel kit. And my big score was a pair of launch pads that snowbug used to make a few years back. They just make the running boards a bit wider where you mount them. I ride with my one knee and foot under me when sitting and my foot is always falling off the narrow part of the running board. So these will be a nice easy fix. I eventually want to do the BTV running board mod but short on time so this is a perfect solution. And last but not least my fett brothers grip strips to fill in the rest of the rail. This set up should work very nice.

I got some red alum strips from HPE that worked great on my VMax and looked good too. As a matter of fact I'm gonna stick them on both Vipers also. I'll shoot a couple pics of the painted rear tunnel plate on my Vmax tomorrow and email them to you. It looks way better painted.

Had a a little bit before the family christmas party and i did my to-do-list for the wife. So went to the garage with no real plan other then to paint the rear heat exchanger panel. Well i got that done and in between coats i got the track in and chain case bolted down. put the hood together with the newly painted screens and i must say it turned out awesome. I love the way it blended in from the sun orange to red and in the middle the black. Then i cut down the windshield about 3" for a low profile look. Also got my front radius arm covers on and they will look perfect with black skis and loops and a red belly pan. Since the hood was done i mounted it with the help of the daughter and man it looks great. It makes these bad yamaha colors (to me) look awesome. Could not be happier how it turned out so far. This thing is going to be a light bad a$$ little sled for sure. Thanks for the pic's gil, painting that back panel makes a big difference. Pic's of today!!

Been getting a few small things done over the last few days. Got the viper reed cages notched and installed and started to get the skid ready to put together. Fouth wheel spacers cut and ready. Got all my bearings repacked and set in the wheels. Also got the bed liner on the running boards. They will look sharp with the grip strips and launch pads. Few pic's

Better hurry blizzard heading your way!!!!!!!!!!

Man i hope so, the vipers are ready to go. Storms gonna blast right through my place up north. Keeping fingers crossed. This sled will have to wait till after christmas!

Well little by little its comming together. In between work and up north got some stuff done. Got the engine back together with the viper reeds and cages. Chain case back together. New clutch kit installed. Going with the turk set up for 600 twins. A 50/44 helix (micro belmont) green secondary spring at 60deg, and 8AB weights with 2.4g rivets in all holes. Really looking forward to see what this little twin does. Got the HID's installed and awesome again. I love these kits from DDM. They are really quality stuff and plug and play. I hope to get the skid done (BTV treatment) and installed tomorrow. If i do there is just enough snow on the ground for a ride around the yard. Few pic's of today

Well its done!!! Today didnt start well but finished great. It started with me firing up the heater and its 4deg outside. The cold cement just killed me today. Im getting to old for crawling around on the cement. I even had those padded mats to lay on but man im shot. The skid fought me the whole time. I think cause the track was so cold and stiff. Then i got the skid in but it hung up on one of the chain case bolts. So by the time i fought it free got the skid bolted in i was whipped. But the hard part was done and on to the easy stuff. Got the skid plate on, my running board grips and launch pads. I have the pads mounted where my feet ride. I ride with my feet under me. Then set up the suspension per BTV (skid was BTV'ized also). Gave her a quick wax and armoral and she is ready to ride. No snow here so up north for the weekend it will go. Ill hit the lake with it for a few test passes and let one of the kids ride it to put some miles on it. The river here is froze and ready to ride if the 48 and rain were supposed to get by tuesday dont kill it. So thats the plan next week. Man what a winter again!!! Pic's of her done. :sled1:

Nice job. have always liked those black hoods. Those 600's are a hoot to ride. My buddy has one that i did some work on. He said to ride it whenever and im thinking it's just a 600 how fun could that be. But was impressed .
