VMax 600 has a "burble" below 6000 rpm or so...

If you punch it from idle, it doesn't do it, or if you cruise above 6000 rpm or so, it goes away. But, cruising below that it has a noticable "burble" to it. Any thoughts??

Try dropping the needle by 1-2 shims. Mine had the same issue and that solved it.

Correct me if Im wrong but if you take out one plastic shim it should do it.Take out the shim that is below the metal "C" clip.

Color me clueless... where is this "C" clip located on the carbs? What is this doing to the carb? Do I need to do a lot of dis-assembly?? I know nothing about snowmobile carbs.... Holly 4150 double pumpers, now there's a different story!!

The needle that you want to adjust rides up/down with the slide in the carb. What you want is to lower the needle by one shim. You need to remove the top covers, remove the slides. Then you have to pull out the needle. The needle has slots with a c-clip attached. (a lot of carbs have slots and clips but yamahas have the shims for very fine tuning). The c-clip will stay in the same position, but the plastic shims need to be moved to drop the needle. Remove the shim from "under" the clip and return it on the "top" of the clip. Now reassemble and remember to sync the carbs.
Sound like fun yet
This takes about 1/2 hour. It is an easy adjustment (if you've done it before), but you have to be careful and aware of what you're doing. Do any of your friends ride yamis? Or is there a shop near by that can show you what to do?
I've looked for pictures on here but haven't found anything that would help you.

Have you looked at your secondary clutch?
We had the same problem with the wifes vmax600.
It only ran good above 5500 rpm.
The 3 plastic nubby slides in the secondary were toast and the secondary was binding untill the r's went up.

I have always had to remove the throttle linkage shaft to adjust the needles. Not a simple trail side adjustment. ('00 and '02 SX-R)

.....and for gods sake make sure you keep your eye on those little shims.They are practically invisable if you drop them.
