electrical questions

i have a 1999 sx 600 and i am having some issues with my heated shield hookup, i am hooked into my headlight which works fine but no heated shield. when i check voltage i am only getting about one volt on the volt meter but headlight is shining bright. is there a fuse box anywhere or any suggestions?
 
Your getting 1 volt at the sheild plug in...correct? I would say either bad splice on the positive or bad ground on the negative. For giggles pull the plug off the head light and check there.
 
i did pull the plug and was still only getting one volt at idle. that is what is confusing me. brand new fluke meter that reads 12 volts on a direct remote battery hookup.
 
What are you using to ground the meter? If your using ground in the harness it may be poor connection on the harness ground (behind cowl on my srx I :dunno: on your sled. Try grounding meter on the motor or chassis. Headlight bulb wouldnt have as much draw as sheild or meter so that could be why light is working fine.
 
The thumb warmer will burn your thumb hand warmers dont seem to be very warm not hot at all. wondering if there is a blown fuse some where?
It does not make sense with it spliced into the headlight?

Thats more common than you think, that why in the couple years after this sled yamaha went to 2 different adjusters for hand/thumb warmers. No fuse that I know of.

LOL - well, the tech corner is closer to the top of the catagory and is viewed first... by me anyhow.

I usually just go by new posts.....Works great when I am on regularly, If its ben a while theres pages and pages.........
