Viper no spark

Ive read about every post but they dont totally cover my issues.
I checked all of the wires, there are no signs of rubbing anywhere.

My sled doesnt have spark sitting since last year, only road twice with no issues.
Im getting 9V out of the stator and I get 10V at the kill switch so i dont think its the stator like everyone else on here.
I checked for frays on the wiring harness (yes under the engine too)

Does anyone know how to check the CDI box? I got a used one on ebay it was a gamble but still same issue.

Ive been messing with this sled for 2weeks now and i dont want to take it to the shop and be over charged to look at it.

When you pull it over does the head light flicker? Not as up on sx info as srx's but try ruling out the simple stuff like just unplugging key switch, if its bad when you turn key to "run" it may not run...Should run unplugged....I think...if the key switch is the problem.

lights dont flicker or anything, after spending a few more hours reading up on stators. I was checking the green white with + and red white with -. just went with red/white with + and green/white with - got 330ohms on the 2000k setting and with the 3 white connector i got .9 ohms with 200 setting.

i guess factory is 189-231 ohms so Im thinking it may just be the stator.

but getting 9V out of it through me off.
everything was checked with my new digital multi meeter, I think the old one was giving me false reading because it said i was at 230 ohms but thats not the case with the new tool.

I've unplugged the killswitch, and i just tested for ohms on the key switch.

is the flywheel rusty when you look down thru the hole on top of recoil housing?

yes the flywheel is rusty, i was in the process of taking it off but one of the 3 hex head screws striped out, so Il be going to sears to get an easy out set.

the flywheel being rusty is likely your problem since the pick up coil has to read the magnet coming around to trip the p/u coil into sending power to the cdi box.

take a sharp cold chisel and hold it to the bolt head at a sharp angle and strike the bolt head, it will loosen the bolt for you to remove.( remember, lefty loosey!) there is lock tite on the bolts and they need to be heated to remove them without stripping out the hex head. once stripped the chisel gets them out everytime , make sure chisel is sharp and you you hold it at a angle to bite into the button head bolt, a good strike with a ballpeen hammer and presto its loose! ;)!

I've got tr stator out and it ohms out at 133 and .7 today outside the sled. Ohms have never in specs.... Cleaned up the fly wheel and the the puckup. Do you think the stator is bad?

the ohm readings are not a good way to check as they are temp variance, so iunless its at least 68degrees out your readings will vary. I would clean up the flywheel and reinstall see if you have spark, most likely thats was the problem, a stator doesnt go bad sitting still, but a rusted flywheel does interupt the circuit to get spark.

I cleaned up the flywheel (not a speck of rust left), re en-stalled everything and still no spark...I also cleaned off that little black box that comes off the stator thats also magnetized. Im at a loss, I rechecked the harness running under the engine, by the exhaust, handlebars, and to the cdi box and still haven't found any bare wires or anyplace that the tape rubbed off or pinched wires.

both of them at the same time? Ive tried 1 then the other with no results but never both at the same time...il give it a shot tho-at this point im willing to do anything

so when you put a digital multimeter on the pick up coil wire coming out of the stator, whats the voltage read when you pull over the engine?

just to make sure the pickup coil wire is the one with 3 white cables right? not the red/white green/white...I was getting 9V and on one of the pulls i got 10V

the pick up coil is the white/red white green wires, the 2 together, the other 3 white wires are the stator.

the pick up coil sends voltage to the cdi, its then multiplied in the cdi box and sent out to the coils, so this is where you need to look.

well, unfortunately, with that low of output your going to have to buy a stator, even though its just the pick up coil thats bad, they come as a assembly.
