Exhaust popping really cold weather

Tried the permatex copper and it seems quieter but still have the exhaust popping just not as pronounced. I only did the #1 pipe not the other two. Will do those also on another day or will just change all three donuts when they arrive. Taking those springs off is not an easy task nor is putting them back on. Could only move the pipe about 1/2" away from the motor at most. Any trick to moving them more? Do I have to undo all of the springs holding the exhaust in place?

it hasnt been very long since your last post so i dont think you let it(ultra copper) dry, if you dont let it dry its not going to work..................

you need a spring tool or make one fronm a old screw driver at worst, grind a small v slot into the side and pull the springs with, or a hooked peice of strong wire will work also, made to look like a "t". If you undo the engije springs and the springs where the pipe goes into silncer you should be able to wiggle it off the engine manifold donut, theres also 2 springs on the center, the big one next to bellypan and the one in front under hood hnge if you need more room.

you have tyo let it completely dry, not tacky but DRY! its like rubber then and will seal the pipe till you get the new donut. takes 2-3 hours to cure depending on air temp warmer is quicker, colder is slower.

I had mine off a few times in the last few days. VISEGRIPS or one of those spring removal tools I always forget to buy. lol
I popped one spring from each on the engine end and all the can springs, slide #3 (stator) pipe off the can, slide center out and twist it up and out. After that your home free. It's really not to much trouble.

I must admit I only let it dry for an hour as my family was itching to get out there and go sledding. I will play around with it some more when I get some free time

here you go..about $22.00.I have this one from Yamaha, also I have an aftermarket one which is alright and I made one from a large screwdriver. Will make life easier for you.A must have for them springs..

I have that tool, but the metal is kind of soft so I have bent it already. I just use a piece of string/tiny rope to get the springs in place.

Visegrips work well when u can't find ur spring removal tool. I know it was already said but just seconding the motion.

3rd on the vice grip motion, motion carrys!...LOL! I actually use a T handle tool that was actually designed for plugging tubeless tires.......Vicegrips when I cant find/dont want to go lookin.

What was not called for here was ignoring my original question and the fact that lots of you jumped all over me for the regular fuel. I do appreciate the help, I don't appreciate being made to feel like a dumb *** because of the questions I ask. I had a couple of very nice members send me PM's to try and help me out. I like this forum, don't like some of the attitudes though.

sorry for some of thier responses iceman, like anything else in life theres always people who feel the need to make you feel less informed then they are. Yet, most of those people have questions posted or have problems they cant fix themselves. Another thing is print is funny, theres no emotion or tone of voice to really get a understanding of how something is meant, so it can be taken the wrong way. It has happened to me as well.
So I say take it as a grain of salt and hope you stay around, youll find out the people you can trust information from and the people who have nothing better to do then well... just waste your time.

I dont care what other sleds you have either, you still have a yamaha , if you have problems ask, someone will try and help you out here. ;)! this is a good site dont get discouraged. sorry:offtopic:

Thanks mrviper700 I appreciate it. I plan on sticking around I have learned lots from this forum. I will take it with a grain of salt and will try and help others as I have been helped. But never will I make someone feel stupid. I have never had problems with my SRX700 until now. I had lots of help when I had my 07 Phazer FX which is the other sled I had before I got my Arctic Cat.

This isn't a good site...... this is a GREAT site! A lot of good people with good advice. Years ago it was plagued by trolls and keyboard heroes.
