videos to come as soon as uploaded
That sled can be setup to launch pretty quick (just ask vmaxjohn if he was still around here).
So you likely have a problem.
Be sure to note your rpm's during launch, even take a video if you can. Don't wreck trying to hold your video camera though

The info. on the tech page says and 80 degree twist of the secondary spring, a clutch engagement speed of 4000 RPM and a shift speed of 7800 rpm. Looks like your engagement speed is right from the videos.

what holes should i be in on secondary
The holes added together have to add up to 8.
ex 6 + 2 = 8 or 80 degree wrap.
I would also check your belt...if is worn out and sitting low in the secondary clutch its like starting out in 3rd gear in your car.

how old are the clutch springs? might be time for a new primary spring at the very least. clutches are clean and dry? belt is sitting at the top of the secondary before take off? oem yamaha belt?
my sx500r did not take off like that at all even before vmaxjhons set-up went in it. the weights are correct as the rpms are spot on.

I second the is the belt riding at top of secondary question and is it the correct belt, clutches moving freely in general? We currently have that exact sled, 98 Xct 500. They don't have a lot of low rpm power but it should be much better than that. Once you get this part figured out they do benefit from the clutch setup mentioned earlier. I would also drop a tooth on the top sprocket to help. You will not loose any top end. We have seen 102 mph on the speedo with perfect conditions with the lower gearing on a stock original 8,500 mile sled. You definitely do have something more going on. Check the belt first. The video was an excellent way to show everyone by the way.

Installed 'spare' belt. Seems to be much better. Might order secondary spring as it seemed easier than i expected to open sheves to change belt
Check your bushings in the secondary while you are at it.
