Only one photo because photo bucket is being a pita.
One set of wires is coming up from by the chaincase and the other is going to what I'll call the idle adjustment.
Chaincase wire seems to be brown and black/yellow.
Idle adjustment wire seems to be black and black/yellow.
What are these and where should they be??
Also, my coolant temp switch has nothing plugged into it and no sign of where the plug is?
Are the wires in the pic related to temp sending unit?
Any help is appreciated as usual. Thanks

that is your TORS, throttle overide, when it kicks in it limits the rpms below clutch engagement. Its a safety feature to keep your sled from running away with a stuck throttle. Someone bypassed it. I would reconnect it and get it working. 9 out of 10 times if it is kicking in when it shouldn't it's because the throttle cable is too tight.

^X2^.......they are bullet type so you cant plug them in wrong (malee/female) I am headed out to the "sled garage" (24ft haulmark) and I will pop the hood on the 98 600 and can give you a wire count/colors running to tach.

I figured that was tors, but sleds new to me. Havent even ridden it yet but as I go through it I keep finding little things.
Any clue where I might find the plug end to plug back into my coolant temp sensor?? lol
I dont even know where it travels from to start looking.
I'm on it though.

The TORS has set of male/female on each end, unplug what you have and plug back in the only way it will. As far as lights on tach goes theres a square-ish 6 pin block that only 5 are used. yellow/back to high beam, solid blue that splits to temp/oil light (probabaly ground) red with green stripe to temp and red with black stripe to oil. This is part of the harness that has fuel/backlighting wires/smoothing coil.

Thanks for the tors advise. I'm working out in the cold now, so I tend to ask before I freeze. lol
My lighting is all fine now except the fact that I have no wire to plug into my water temp sensor, hence, the warning code.
So far I figure it's a blue/red and black pair of wires I'm looking for. Just cant seem to find them.
Exhaust and coolant bottle are out as I dig.

Absolutely the little bugger I'm looking for.
Did you have that saved or find it through search? I had no luck with search.
Now I atleast know I'm looking in the right area. Back out to freeze my fingers.

You saved my bacon Devil. Thanks.I was about to go medieval on it's azz.
I spotted the wire a couple hours ago but it was going under the engine and couldnt be pulled out and I couldnt confirm the colors.
I got to thinking that some hack put things back together and when they couldnt get it, left it.
I finally cut the loom to see two beautiful wires that I had been hunting for.
Now that I knew for sure it was the water temp sensor plug, I was prepared to just rip it out and figure out a new connection method later.
After reading recently of someone elses head standing mechanics, I decided I could do the same thing. With a couple prybars, a coat-hanger three arms and a flashlight in mouth, I managed to retrieve the plug in one piece.
Doin the Snoopy dance.
Now to plug everything back in, including the tors, and see what the next code is.

Well, thats it for today folks. Put it all back together and fired it up.
3 quick flashes and then nada.
Tors hooked back up and it seems to run good on the stand. I let it warm up and snapped the throttle a couple times and it jumped up to 7500rpm pretty quick with no stumbles through out.
Again folks, appreciate the help and have a great, but safe, New Years Eve.

Didnt have it saved, when I realized I was looking at the wrong end I searched "coolant temp sensor" and knowing it was GREEN the thread stood out like a......Devil standing on his head! (with or with out a dress!)Glad to hear you are good to go! Even when we are making fun of ourselves we inspire others!
