Stopped to get food, come back out, no start. Did my stator take a crap? Headlights doesn't come on when pulling over, checked all connections, everything seems to be as it should. Sled never gave any warning that something was wrong. Ran fine all day then this...
Thanks for any suggestions of what I could try, sitting on trail waiting for ride to come.

97 sx in your signature? Stators usually dont go from fine to bad that quick while sitting. Parked at? Private setting or bar/restaraunt?

Bar/restaurant. Was inside for 30 min. Doesn't make sense...

Shut it off with the key or kill switch? Only ask because I always use the key, NEVER use the kill switch. Sled was left unattended for about the same time, Some one had apparently hit my kill switch (or maybe I did accidently) Came out turned the key on and no fire...WTF! Was freaking out for like 10 minutes thinking somebody had swiped parts/tampered with it, looking over everything under the hood. Looked the kill switch and was like OMFG! This didnt enter my mind at first because I NEVER hit the kill swith on any sled.

I checked everything, just seems to have no power. Idk if ignition switch, kill switch, stator or what crapped out...

Spare plug on board? Pull a cap off and check for spark?

I got sled home, headlight does come on when pulling over, was hard to see with sunlight earlier. I put a plug on it and doesn't appear to be spark. Wondering if CDI went out suddenly, coil packs, ignition switch, kill switch, or if it could be a wire rubbed through, or something else. Makes no sense that I rode for quite a while, stopped at a few places with not a hiccup, then suddenly no spark after it sat for 25-30 min... No other sleds came while we were there, so it wasn't messed with.
Anything that I could be missing? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I had a Cat I was borrowing last year do that to me. It turned out to be the kill switch. We got it home and by-passed the kill switch and it fired right up.

you ever figure out what your issue was. My sx has done the exact same thing and wondering what you found

My flywheel had rust on the magnets, took silencer off, recoil off, sanded the 3 magnets on the flywheel and it fired right up. Has ran like a champ since, and takes a pull less to start it when cold, used to take 4, now takes 3 when sitting overnight. There is a hole on top of the housing that the recoil screws to, pull over slowly, you should see three separate magnets in intervals as you pull it over, make sure you pull slowly in order to see them. If there is rust on them, take the silencer and recoil off and sand them off so they're shiny. Next spray out with compressed air, then LIGHTLY lube the magnets with some WD-40 or something similar, VERY LIGHT on the lube.
I was going to say is was the stator. But I see you found the problem.
My 97 did the same thing. Went to gas up. After refueling it wouldn't start. Had to walk home and get my other sled and tow it home. A few quick test with the ohm meter and found the stator was shot, again!
With the new stator it started much easier.
