sled heads..figure out this problem i had!

I just had the alternator rebuilt on my 1992 Blazer. Put the alt. on and fired her up checked my dash volt meter and it was still only reading 12.5 volts and dummy lite was still lit. Blazer sounded kinda quiet so, what was the problem..... ?

Give up.... ?

Yep, forgot to install the serpentine belt....... ;)!

ok ok enuf ,jaydaniels is real close.upon further review, i unscrewed the drain on the carbs and to my wonderment nothin but oil! the carbs were completely full of oil. For some reason the fuel pump only pumped oil into the carbs and no gas. even though the tank was full. i ended up draining the carbs and blew thru the vent hose on the tank til gas came out. the lines were dry as was the pump. put it back together and she fired right up and ran great the rest of the week. what i dont understand is why, why did'nt it pump gas ?...blockage perhaps...your guess is as good as mine

Pump diaphragm was dry and after you primed and got it wet it would pump.
