OK we are talking about the 2001 500dlx right? Download the owners manual, which I just did. Look at page 6-2, it clearly shows the oil/coolant reservoirs, and says to check the coolant levels, showing you filling the smaller side. Also check the part fiche numbers they are the same for several sleds. 500 & 600 twins as well as 600 & 700 triples. Also take a closer look at the fiche, the line from bottom of the coolant side clearly does NOT go to the oil pump. Follow the lines. I'm not trying to be prick here, but you are wrong.

Went and downloaded manual, I stand corrected. My info was exclusively from the fische showing no resevoir on cooling system scematic.

No problem. I have a buddy that has a 600 twin and 600 triple, the twin looks just like that picture, and other than the triple having the bigger motor, the reservoirs look the same, and work the same as my 700.

With him being unsure of air/liquid cooled I just wanted to make sure he had good info. I know some sleds had the molded area next to oil tank and then a seperate resevoir. Heard of guys using the other side for extra oil.

I kinda wonder if someone didn't that to that sled. I had the same thought.
