exciter II wont rev out

i recently started working on a exciter II for a friend of mine. it was parked a few years ago, and the gas was never drained. the carbs were full of varnish, so i cleaned them thoroughly. i reinstalled the carbs and the sled will only run about 7000 rpm. i removed the carbs again and could not find a problem. i syncronized them, and it seems worse. it has a bog on the low end and still will only run 7000 rpm. the mag side cylinder seems like it is not pulling its weight. i can pull the plug wire at an idle and it seems like no change. i know it is running some of the time but maybe not always. it has 145 lbs of compression. i tried new plugs, i am at a loss. does anyone have a suggestion?

ok check the pipe for a nest they get clogged. and what setup for the aibox? stock? are you checking the WOT on a stand or riding it? if you are riding it try the stand.i mean ill list the possiblities to look for...
1.dirty /clogged air filter
2. clogged pipes
3.wrong main jet
4.wrong needle jet clip position
5. floats aren't adjusted right
6.shit i could keep going on.

Also to check the plugs get it on a stand and hold it wide open for 30 seconds and turn the key off or kill switch and keep the throttle pinned.. and when it stops let go of the throttle and turn off gas petcock and check the plugs... this is the true way. also if your sleds gearing and clutching isnt right it wont let it rapp either.. i dont know about stock but mine bored .20 over port and polished w/ twin psi pipes rapps out at just a smiidge under 9000 and im doing over 100mph with a huge extended track

ok, the sled is absolutely bone stock. everything. i have ran the sled on snow and on a stand. the sled runs about the same in both situations. i looked in the air box and it looks clean, but i did not take it apart. i did the same with the exhaust. i need to remove them and check them better. i removed the belt and the sled will rev then. i can only get about 50mph in the snow, and only about 7000rpm on the stand. all carbs and clutching is stock. i cant imagine a problem there. floats are adjusted correctly. ill check the pipe and airbox. can you list more possibilities

BIG NO- No that clutch could come apart without a belt on ive had one engage without a belt and it came apart..luckily the hood was closed. it almost blew the hood off. adjust your motor mounts to where if you have it idling it should barley move the track and this is when its on a stand by the way. mske sure ther lind up. check your whole drive train to make sure nothing is binding. ary clutchspray some wd40 or something luibricating on the secondary clutch... does your secondary open? it doesnt sound like it.on the satnd watch to see if it shifts normal you can watch the belt go down it the sheeve on the secondary. take the airbox off and try rapping it out too. not for to long and make sure its not going to suck anything in.

Check the reistance of the stator coils... when the sled is warm/hot, and compare to what the values are when the sled is cold. Could be a bad low coil...
