i have a cousin from virginia who was a service rep for yamaha awhile back but he keeps in touch with other dealers he got to know well the story goes yamaha has been watching the sledd sales slow down way down so rather than come out with break through technology costing them money they been doing tweeks instead powersteering ,updating nytro etc. by 20014-15 you might see less and less models being sold and maybe a halt in production he doesnot ride sledds but used to race bikes in the 80s but he thought i should know anyone else hear this ??

Big dealer show in feb to unveil the 2014 models. Also they have changed there midwest snowmobile skunkworks from a test facility to R&D.Something is brewing ;)! .

I've heard through the grapevine that instead of Yamaha's 1 day show they've been doing in the last few years, that this year will be 6 days and bring your riding gear...

Also heard talk of Yamaha possibly buying out Arctic Cat...

I've heard this as well from a reliable source and possibly seeing another 2 stroke triple. Kinda excited to see what future holds

are you talking about the 800 hpdi 2 stroke triple.

its lighting up all the cat forums also, but there is absolutely something brewing between AC and yamaha. I'm guessing yamaha is getting out of the chassis building business, and will supply engines to cat's. There will most likely be rebadged cats sold as yamaha's in yamaha dealerships, to allow single-line sales for yamaha dealers.

Would the yamaha 4 strokes fit into the new cat chassis?

I believe the economy and pricing has a lot to do with it.Unless all sleds start dropping in price, don't see much demand for new ones.Winters being what they are lately will dictate the future sales.Still young guys won't be buying into new sleds. They are having enough problems with making ends meet..especially if they are buying their first house, sleds won't be a priority for them. The old iron will be around for a while as long as there is parts for them..
If AC and Yamaha join,I probably would go to a Polaris for new in the future..

kinda cool in a way..Your belly rests on the tank, head down low and just give her.If that was like a 200 HP sled..it would sell.Would be a totally different rider concept..mostly for high speeds.Just hope you don't hit a stump, hard drift and you are flying off head first. Is that rocket propelled..lol..that would be cool on the straight aways..

It dosent bug me that mutch. The tank should be blue sit a little lower with a more rounded top so you can lay over it.The bars moved ahead and sloped down and back and a bigger lug track would be better even 136 rails would make it look like it was ment for snow.
