1998 SRX 600
It has always been hard to start, but once it is warmed up I can fire it up in one pull. Last year I was showing my sled to sell it. We got it started no problem. We killed it then tried to start it again, then nothing. Obviously there was no sale that day. I didn't have the time to look at it until this week. This is what I did:
I removed and cleaned the carbs. Cleaned YPVS. Drained old gas from the tank and the lines. Checked for spark.
Now there is spark but it seems weak. Not bright.
Priming it would usually give me some sense of it running normal for a few seconds. when I primed it this time, it ran really weak and died right away.
Anther odd thing is that every so often it kicks back when pulling and will backfire sometimes. It never used to do that before. Nearly ripped my elbow out of place. Ow.
It will fire once every 25 pulls or so.
Compression is good.
Checked the fuel line. There is fuel.
Pulled the spark plugs. They look wet.
Any ideas where to go from here?
