I would not leave it on, it will act like the weather is too warm. I don't use mine unless it is 5 deg. F or colder. I have forgotten it on and the engine started burbling like it was flooding. IMO, ViperXC

it is not intended to warm the incoming air, it warms up the carb body itself to keep the jets from icing up when the temps get that cold because any water will freeze quick. The smaller diameter mikunis yamaha uses also run somewhat colder than the other, larger carbs because of the higher venturi velocities. The faster the air moves, the colder it becomes.
