So had fixer upper out after rebuild. Got about 20 miles in and thing is running nice.Let off throttle to go around curve,hit gas and sled wont go. Hit gas and won't rev up. Just has real erratic idle when u get on it wont get high enough to engage clutch. Any thoughts idles good starts good I'm stumped
What type of sled is this to start off? What type of gas is running(Station used and grade)? How do the plugs look?

going by his other thread its a sx 700. I say TORS as well. loosen your throttle cable

yeah sorry was trying to start post on my phone last night. it was aggravating me so left it short and to the point. 97 700sx. Just replaced mag side jug and piston. Like I said thing was running great. It does act just like tors but i have that bypassed down at carbs. Im wondering about sh#t gas. Otherwise im stumpped. Looked and plugs and there good. maybe a little rich but it was warm last night mid 20's peaked flashlight down cylinder holes and top of pistons were black. Of course it had just idled for 30 minutes while groomer towed me off trail to a buddies house. Has compression starts, idles all day long. Is there something im missng with tors. Thought i had plenty of slack in my cable but will dble check.
Depending on what type of gas you are using tors will go off more. if you are using any type of ethanol from shell or something (except 91 grade) it has 10% in it. My buddy has a viper and his tors goes off like no other when he puts in that garbo. In the manual though it says it can handle 5% ethanol gas. Go to a Mobile or something. I hope it is just tors..

Well certainly confused had it up to buddies shop. He tried tightening plug caps, played with throttle. Certainly acts like tors. Like I said its bypassed at carb. Is there another switch in throttle. Assembly???how do I test

The tors acted up in mine as well, did everything to get it to work right, I ended up unplugging it and plugging it together at carbs, also unplugged it underneath handlebar pad from thumb switch. I'm cautious when I ride, always aware if throttle would hang for some reason, I leave quite a gap between myself and others. Although since bypassing the tors 3 years ago, I've never had a problem.
I sure you have but Just wondering if you tried new plugs maybe you have a bad one. I put new plugs in my car not so long ago run and idle just fine. But when I got on it. It had a misfire cut out and ran like crap. Turned out I got a bad new plug. Couldn't handle higher rpms Have you check it for any leaks with carb cleaner. Intake boots, crank seal, ect

gonna load up a video so you guys can hear.yeah changed plugs, messed with plug caps and connections to coils. How do you bypass at the throttle??

If you have bypassed the TORS at the carbs I don't think there is a need to do it at the bars.
It sure sounds like weak spark. Have you tested the stator and plug caps?

Correct me if I am wrong. But I believe I have read some post here where people where cleaning the flywheel due to rust build up. . Who had weak spark or no spark.

didnt .test the caps persay as far as resistance but did pull caps off and recut ends of wire. cleaned stator last year but think i will pull recoil and check again. Seems weird it did it just all of sudden. guess thats the way it always works. Cani just get cnew caps at autostore or are they junk. I will try a search remember reading something about alll this stuff. Any other thoughts are welcome
Test the caps with a meter. Good ones ohm out a 5k ohms. And yes, it can happen just like that.

so have done some meter readings and everything has checked out except for the" source coil" in the stator. So im guessing that is the issue. Damn thing. So guess we need more parts!!!! When will it end!!!!???
