Vforce3 reeds worth any performance?

Hey guys, I recently purchased an 02 SRX from my brother. All stock except for Vforce3 reeds. I have never thought aftermarket reeds made much difference in terms of hp, but maybe responding to air flow more quickly than stock ones. I probably want the stock reeds for this sled, but was wondering if they would be of any benefit in my 2000 SRX with ported cylinders, all stock motor otherwise, (not sure how "ported they are. i.e. trail, lake, race) which is probably going to stay an asphalt sled from now on. Or am I better off with stock reeds in both sleds. Thoughts and opions appreciated.

I haven't run them in my Viper, but I did run them in my Vmax-4 and my ported Polaris triples. I honestly cannot say I noticed any difference whatsoever from the stock reeds.

Others may have experienced otherwise, however.

I have vforce 2's in my viper and vforce 3's in my dads vmax. They say its a gain of 3-4 hp I believe but if thats true I can't tell. The big difference I've found is in the throttle response.

put the $350 for them into clutch parts, youll get 3 times the payback. :o|

another thing with the 3's is they seem to fail alot more then the originals and 2's did.
 
I take it your saying the Vforce3's won't do anything for a stock or mildly ported engine? The sled had them in it when I bought it (and when my brother bought it 4 years ago) so I wouldn't buying any.

What would be the symptoms of a failed reed?

I have a bog or hesitation when hitting the throttle to WOT. Carbs are clean and I then turned the fuel screws out from 1 1/8 to 1 1/2 with no difference. Going to double check the carbs this week and probably pull the reeds out for inspection.
 
I'd go with a dual stage Boyesen myself with a stock reed stuffer, it's cheap and just as effective. Problem with the V-Force I find is that if there not breaking there chipping.
 
I had the 3's in my Viper when I bought it. Little over 2,000 miles and they weren't sealing flush. No chipping but I replaced them with OEM. Alot cheaper than just replacement reeds for the 3's. Throttle response was a "little" better than OEM but could not justify the cost. Like Mr. Viper said, spend that money on clutching.
