99 600 Vmax sx choke problem

I have a customers 99 600 SX, the choke rod is stuck half open. He does not use a cover (WTF) and never washes off the road salt (Big surprise). Is there an easy way to get the rod to release across the rack, or does it need to go into a dealer? I normally stay away from rack carbs like this, and this machine has been nothing but trouble since it got here. Any help would be great.

Try some carb cleaner, or PB Blaster. That stuff will unstick your aunt Pollie's wedgie on a hot summer day!

You should be able to move these by hand if you disconnect the cable...my guess would be the cable is rusted inside the sheath, and is hanging up. good luck!
