Hey guys, I looked through the service manual and did a search on here but I can't find much info on the sending unit for my 02 Vmax 600. Once I remove the air box, is there enough room to remove the sending unit past the steering post? My fuel guage is acting strange, it will only move off the full mark once it gets to the 1/4 level. Thanks

If you need more room it's real easy to remove the seat and the few screws / nuts holding the tasnk in place and slide the tank back a couple inches. Everything relatively easy to get to. Did you look in from the top to see if the unit is moving freely? If it is you may have to replace it as I don't know if there is any repairing them. They are pretty cheap and readily available as they used the same one on several models.

It was working last week, but since I filled it, it stays on full, when the tank has around a 1/4 fuel in it the needle starts to move a bit, you can see the needle floating a bit. I stuck a magnetic tool into the tank and pushed the arm down, the needle moved to the empty mark, but as soon as I let it go it came right back up to the full mark, thinking maybe the bobber came off the end of arm maybe. Either way the arm doesn't drop like it should

Just drained the tank, and with it empty I slowly lifted the arm and watched the guage move accordingly, seems that it works fine. Might be nothing wrong with it at all, what got me suspicious was I drove 80 km's without it moving much, but I didn't realize was that there is alot of space between the tank neck and where the point the floats starts dropping...quite a bit from what I see. I'll have to keep an eye on it my next trip.
