well according to the vin its a 03 ... the sticker on the tunnel says 05/2..... what has me puzzled is the black webbing/foot gripping on the foot boards , it has the hand/thumb warmer switches on the bars like the 04's and its got a black/red hood witch seems to be an 04 hood. ill try and post some

someone could have taken a wrecked/blown up 04 viper s and put all of the 04 parts on a 2003 chassis

i just bought it and it was flashing a code for the hand warmers. they dont work so i took the cover off the bars, they had the grips hooked to each other. the 2 wires coming from the harness were hooked to each other also... yeh not really sure y but now i unhooked it and hooked the grips up but they dont work.... but the light is out i ohmed out the grips they are good. got no power coming from the harness.. anyone know how to test the switches on the bars??

Will need to run the motor passed 4000 rpm to get voltage to the warmers as this circuit is controlled by the CDI.

Looks like a 2004 Viper S. Someone may have changed the tunnel.

hmmm.... ok well i called yamaha.. and the vin comes back as a 03 viper er ..... i had them run the motor numbers but they couldnt tell me anything about them. the part numbers on the jugs come back to an 03 and the cdi part number is from an 04 ..

seems though it may be an 03 tunnel on an 04 chassis with a 03 motor... realy weird.
and its got an m10 suspension. the sled seems pretty sound it rips really good other than the hand warmers i have no issues.

One more thing they cut a square out of the belly pan on the chain case side and clutch side its about 6" by 4" on the bottom of the belly pan... the chain side they riveted a patch. the clutch side they glued a plastic piece over it(with silicone or like) Anyone know why they would do that??

Other than the holes in the belly pan... what ever they did they did a good job putting this thing together... I played around with the grip warmers some more.. put it up on a stand and tested the yellow/red wire coming out the harness (with a different meter this time) now i got 13v at 4k rpm.. hooked them up one at a time and they both got hot. now i got hot grips and no flashing lights ;)! The douchebag i bought it from, when i questioned the idiot light flashing he told me it was normal and that the m10 suspension caused the light to come on cause it didnt kick up the snow like the factory suspension did. he said it was a temp light. i really wanted to laugh at him when he said this but i just went with it. What a moron . oh well guess i got me a frankenstien. i know ill enjoy it even if it is part 03/04
