BETHEVIPER had a listing in classified for a used stator. Where in NY are you. You could check out sleezebay I saw a few on there. Full Power Performance who is a sponsor on this site also has alot of used older yamaha engine parts. Thats where I got mine at. But its only a 25 min drive from my house so wanted to deal local if i could. LOts of options so good luck.
just bought one of viperking . so lets hope this will be the end of the problems and i can use this thing. This is my first ever snowmobile so would like to ride it soon and see if i like it or not!!!

As long as it came out of a 600-700 pre 2000model yr you should be 10-4. Good luck. As said before that was the issue with mine runs like a champ now just need damn snow.
i have snow, just no running snowmobile yet ( for the 2nd year)!!!!!!

now we dont have much snow ,but i do have a running snowmobile!!!!!. yes the stator fixed it . People were right in saying that the square connector is different off a 00 model but it still connects ok just the clip doesnt snap tightly together.(black tape cured that . not ideal but it works). i still have old crappy gas and the belt is needing replacing soon but holy shizz it has some power. for a first ever snowmobile its feels crazy fast to me
Total cost for this is about $480 (includes buying it !) so right now i am happy happy happy..
thanks to all who posted and helped .

Glad it worked out for ya. Hopefully will snow and us ny'ers get some riding in without breakdowns. If its your first sled than yeah its a plenty fast machine for you. Dont worry you will get used to it fast and want more. Just use your head and dont get to cocky to quick cause thats when those things will bite you. I bought a brand new 97 700 back in 98. Was a leftover. Anyway i had a 570 exciter then a 94 600 twin, then got this tripple. My first ride in field with it and I was like holy crap what am I gonna do with all this power. Was pretty intimitated for first few rides. Didnt take long and ported ,reeds and all the cool things you can do to them. Should have never got rid of her. Left a impression cause I have another, and still lots of fun
