98 vmax 600 reed change, vforce 3 reeds

you have to take the float bowls off to change the pilot jets and its not an air screw at the bottem of carb ,its a fuel screw, has nothin to do with air flow!
 
The last time we rode it we had a real hard time starting it when it got around 20 deg outside. Took forever to start. It starts great when its around 30 or warmer. Idles rough and boggy at low end & takeoff. Still pops a little and idle fluctuates all the time.
 
What did you end up with, reed spacers in or not? Also you mentioned earlier the spacers making the reeds further away from the carbs. If that is the case you have them on the wrong side of the reed cage. They should be between the engine and the reed cage making the reeds further away from the engine, distance to the carbs stays the same.
 
I did install the spacer between the cage and cylinder. It really didnt seem to run any different though. Maybe top end I couldnt tell.
 
My main jets are 151.3 and the screw is at 1.5 turns out. I'm not sure where the needle is or where it should be. Not sure on what the main jet should be either.
Turns out all my lines hardened same with the tank one. The filter was not submerged.
