Yeah, Im in no hurry. What a bummer with the snow situation. We had about a foot here right before christmas and it lasted until a few days after new years. It was some of the best riding ever in se wi. The snow we had made a perfect base and the clubs in this area did an awsome job grooming. Kudos to the Jackson moonlighters, Germantown sno-drifters and kettle moraine snowmobile clubs!!Lucky7 said:Be patient, no hurry right now. This winter blows. They got snow 25 miles above us last night. Hope it makes it by the weekend. The dustings are just a tease.
Your top end will just drop in place. She'll be solid once you're finished.

Well, I thought I would update this thread I started last season. I finally got the fresh motor in the sled about a month ago. To make things easier I ditched the flat slides and went with a set of 38vm's off of an 83 VMAX. I figure I would share my set up that with 350mi it is holding together!!
I have RPC trail ported cylinders, 2.5mm off of the piston skirts, .030 off the head and an RPC steath pipe with 20mm taken out of the Ypipe. Carbs are 38mm VM's with 42.5 pilots (RPC recomened 45's at 3/4 turns out, I was pretty rich with those and went back to stock) 166 Q6 nozzles, 6DH4 needles in the middle pos. and 340/350 mains. I maybe able to drop the mains one size as the plugs look slightly rich at WOT. I will install EGT sensors before I do. It seems pretty happy where its at and know I am safe to at least -5f since that was the temp the day I worked on the jetting.
Now comes clutching. I think I am dang close and will have to take it out to a lake to fine tune it. I'm running YXR primary and secondary with 8AY weights and yellow spring. The secondary is set to 50 degrees, 49/39 helix with a white spring. Gearing is 17/31. Using the tach and speedo, I am 80 mph in a 1/8-1/4mile and 90mph in 1/3 mile. (estimated distance) I need to take it to a place where I can get it wide open for a longer distance to see if My clutching is 100% because as of now, it appears I'm not shifting out full as my Sharpie line is still visable about 3/16 from the top of the primary. I'm running dead on at 7500 RPM. Its a ski hanger and and arm ripper at this point. I'll have to do some more testing to see if I am in fact getting a full shift. Thanks to all who helped me last year on here and a big shout out to Yamaha Nutz for the wisdom and parts!!
