studd length

im running 144 stud signature series 1.075 it doesn't really hook good on bare ice like almost no hook ....is it the stud length or the number of studd
 

trail sled ... but I would like to hook better on ice ...so I could race with friend on ice .....
 
tnx I guess its just a problem cause I don't have enough of them .....chisels are not very trail friendly went u cross road ....I was thinking it was the length of them not the amount ....thnx for your reply
 
Hold on, 144 studs are plenty on a 121 track. Too many can also be a negitive if not placed properly. How are your scratch lines. Are they too close?? What is your pattern? On our 121's we run 144 studs and awsome take off. I run a "V" formation every 4 bars in the center two per bar. On the outers one on each bar ever other. One our 128 I am running 204 studs. This is the same V formation on the centers but each outer also has a stud. Al
 
I will take a picture of them soon and show it ...what is the length of your stud ...its a kind of v shape ...but they don't hook
 
the track seem to be a 1 single ply ....maybe the reason ?????????????????
 
think about the guy who lays on the bed of nails, the reason he can lay on the bed of nails is because there is so many, it wont allow the nails to puncture the skin, because each nail only has a very minimal amount of pressure applied to hole the load, if you removed half of the nails, the guy would look like a strainer...... :eek:
A snowmobile track is exactly the same, the less picks, the more pressure per pick is applied. Used to be the rule is 1 pick per 1hp of the sled, thats a good rule of thumb.

so just asking, do you have a 192hp srx?

the more picks you add the heavier the rotating mass is also, swing a cement block on a rope around your head a few times, then break the block in half and redo the test, let me know which one was easier to spin around. A snowmobile track is the same way!

I do agree about it don ..by the way I receive the helix ..I just try to figure if its the pattern ,stud length ,that sled hook but it need some hard froze snow on ice ...on ice you need to get speed before to go wide open cause it will spin like hell

Damn I put together a speed track with 216 Ice chisels to run on Ice, ;)!

set up the suspension then, and let out the limiter straps.
the suspension has to be set up for drag racing, you cant have a nice fluffy trail suspension set up and expect it to drag race on ice, those 2 things are in the opposite ends of the spectrum.

I guess I need to crank the front shock so it transfer the weight ...

ummm no...... to get the suspension to hook youll need to soften up the front and rear shock preloads, move the fra adjuster to stiff because you took off rear spring preload, set the transfer rod gap on top if you have adjustable ones and shimming the bottom as needed to get the track to sit flat and not have the rear idlers like a rocking chair off the ground. Youll also then start to let out the front limiter adj bolts a 1/4-3/8" at a time, the more they come out the more track bites into the ice, it also diminishes steering so if your trail riding you have to find a happy medium.

post a pic of your sled sitting on the concrete garage floor, lay on the fground and take a side view shot of how it sits and post it, can see what you have going on.
