No, it's not the best and requires added shimming, grease fittings and a bit of welding to make it last, but no skid will last forever without some maintance.

IMO it's not so much the design, but the materials and mfg.

It looks to me like your skid hasn't seen any service. I'd yank it and use BTV's suspension tips to bring it back in shape. You're only going to get frustrated piece-mealing.
