Hey guys, so its been about a month since i finished rebuilding my top end, and ive put about 130 miles on the fresh pistons. the machine runs great and sounds good, and never had any issues with cold seizures being wiseco pistons and rings. the only problem im having comes down to fine tuning i think, but i dont know where to start. the first issue i think is that the PTO side piston on this triple seems to not be sparking or firing quite right, i pull the plug and its always very wet and darker color. on the other two pistons the plug comes out nice and golden brown. it seems to be a bit boggy when i accelerate hard, and wont go over 65 mph top end. i dont know if its a clutching issue or carb issue at this point. i havent touched the clutching since i bought it used 3 years ago. it engages at about 4400 RPM and has what looks like a bender helix? on part of the secondary. looks like stock primary too. thanks for any input!
It sounds to me like your only running on 2 cylinders. See if that cylinder has spark and go from there. Start out by just looking at and checking over all your wire connections.
choke plunger could be hanging up on the pto cylinder... Did you check the compression for grins and giggles.... Just to make sure that the rings are seated and the cylinder is building the proper pressure???
As its only on one cylinder I would do a compression test first. Then check the plug cap and wire and reeds.
Sometimes if you think it's a plug cap you can just give one a good half twist or so on the wire and get it working till you can get a new one. But if you just had everything all apart I would just go over everything. A lot of times when you have a new problem it's the last thing you worked on or touched.
i ended up taking the carbs off because i knew that i wasnt getting power from pto cylinder. i made sure it was getting fuel and spark. so i took the carbs off and started spraying through the holes and on the pto side carb, the pilot jet hole was plugged. so i stuck a needle in there and eventually was able to get out whatever buildup was in there. put the carbs back on and ran like a champ
