I've tried searching, but I can't really find a solution.

My machine started up this year only running on two cylinders, maybe sometimes three. It ran, but would bog out at high RPM when under load (trying to ride it). Now it's not running at all and it seems like a fuel issue to me. It will fire up and then stall almost immediately. Then I have to pull start it a number of times and after 10-15 pulls it will fire up and die again.

I had the carbs off of it and they looked quite clean. I couldn't get at the floats because a few of the screws were seized / super tight and I didn't want to strip them. Carbs looked pretty clean and nice from what I could tell. I drained them and blew them out with a compressor and carb cleaner.

I cleaned the airbox while I was at it.

So now I'm thinking it's either the fuel pump or the fuel filter...Something seems to be preventing sufficient fuel to the carbs. It's takes a while for the fuel to make it's way to the engine and when it does it cannot sustain enough fuel to keep running.

Any suggestions before I continue troubleshooting?

PS...I've been lurking for a few years on here. This site kicks a$$ !

Make sure the pulse tube from the engine block is good. It connects to the pump. Breather tubes are clear (allow air in when the fuel drops). Loosen the gas cap if there is suction or if it runs with it loose then they're a problem.

If you couldnt get to the floats you didnt check the jets. sounds like dirty carbs to me. You need to get the float covers off, use vice grips on those screw heads then replace with allen head screws. Will never happen again. Then clean those pilots and main jets. Dont run it till you get those carbs cleaned right. Here is a link http://www.totallyamaha.com/snowmob...Carb Cleaning/Carb cleaning 101 with pics.htm

Thanks Guys. I had the carbs out and intended to follow that exact write up for cleaning them, but I got stuck at a few of the screws for the bowl and didn't want to screw myself over (no pun intended). I'll give it another shot this weekend.
