I am looking to buy a 2000 - 2002 sx700r and was just wondering why yamaha put the heat exchangers on the footboards?

Haha but really does it cool as well as it would in the tunnel?

Lookin for one with red heads
No issues with cooling a red head. I love having the footboard Xchangers. If the heat exchanger is located in the tunnel, you have to be very carefull running studs. Ie; Doo and Cat have problems with this. Al

I'd much rather have them under the footboards.
1...Don't have to worry about track stud issues.
2...Keeps footboards clearer than footboards w/o exchangers on them.
3...Certainly more heat on the footboards for your feet than ones w/ snow.
