Never said anything about mixing. They gave me the choice to go OEM or aftermarket.

Entirely possible sled already had 3 SPX pistons in it and would now have 2 new and 1 used SPX..........only way it makes sense to me for a dealer to go this route. I suggest following up with dealer and verify what the used piston is. Pretty basic rule not to mix-n-match pistons.

so then there were 3 SPX pistons in there before and all they did was change the two.Ok now that would be fine then.

I agree with ViperKing and Bluemonster with it should have been all 3 pistons being that far into it. Hope all goes well and we get some snow soon...

One day you will replace the top end on a 2-stroke sled and you will be amazed at how easy it is. I buy all OEM Yamaha parts out of the states and they ship to Canada, you only have to pay GST and PST when you go to the post office to pick up the parts. Doing a top end on a Yamaha triple using all OEM parts and finding top notch cylinders should cost less than $1000.00. I am sorry, but what I really find sad is that you could have bought three good used cylinders, sent them to Mr. Viper for a port job, and replaced all your pistons with O.E.M. for less money then you spent. But like other posters have said, if its fixed enjoy it.

don't know much about them pistons, but always warm up the motor good before riding.Even if you stop somewhere for 1/2 to an hour..still warm her up good and you shall be fine.If you pull the oil cable full open when idling..it should smoke like crazy and telling you oil is circulating and mixing properly.Just need the ratio of approx 50:1..again adding oil to gas will lean you out a little more.Good riding..

In the parts list, there was only one set of OEM rings and 2 spx pistons. I cant imagine new OEM rings fitting an old SPX piston.
