i have a 2002 viper ,does anyone out there have a problem with there tach/speedo gauge fogging up and is there a fix. thnks :rocks: :yam:

yamaha came out with an update for the boot on the back of the viper guage. if the fogging has etched the glass it is removable and you can clean it or buy a new glass. check the dealer for boot updates. i did my 02. i think they updated to 04-05 viper rear boots, seals the back of the speedo. lot better seal now. ski

You cannot clean the inside of the lens. There is a film inside that once removed, you only have to think about going for a ride and it fogs. Replace the lens!

As far as the cause of the fog is from the boot around the connector. It was not square to the connector. Fix was to disconnect the electrical connector from gauge. Untape the boot from the wire harness. Square the boot with the connector and retape the boot to the harness. Key point is to make sure the boot stays squared to the connector, if not it wont seal out moisture. Also do not use rtv!!!!. The fumes from the rtv will etch the curcuit board of the gauge and eventually stop working. Alot easier with another set of hands to hold the harness while one tapes. ;)!

I'm guessing it's the same problem on the SRX? Both my gauges fog up sometimes. I'll take a look at the connector boot.

I couldn't figured out where the connector boot is under the hood on my SRX. The only boot I see is black rubber piece all around the back of the tachs.

Anyone did the fix?

I think the fix is only for Vipers.

Anyone else have this problem with the SRX? Doesn't prevent me from seeing the reading of my gauges but still...
